Doing Good : 2015, 2016, 2017, Good Deeds Day is an annual celebration uniting over 60 countries around the world in doing good deeds that was initiated in 2007 by businessperson and philanthropist, Ms. Shari Arison, of Arison Group. She believes that, “If people will think good, speak good and do good, the circles of goodness will grow in the world”. KABAALE PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL - HOIMAKabaale Public Primary School (KPPS) is a Community/Government Aided (UPE) school founded in 1964 by the Church of Uganda. As of January 2018, the school had 1,141 Pupils (610 Boys & 531 Girls) and only 15 Teachers. The influx of Pupils to this school is due to closure of other neighboring schools. Stake Holders of the School and the SBC Team after a consultative meeting in front of the classroom block that was renovated. SBC (Uganda) Ltd a sister company of SBI (Uganda) connected electricity to the school, equipped the school with 15 Computers and Work Stations and sponsored an ICT teacher to train the pupils and teachers for one year at the school. The presence of a workforce with good ICT skills can help in attracting a growing industry and increasing employment. In other words, the absence of ICT skills can be a barrier to development. IN THE MEDIA KIKAGATI PRIMARY SCHOOL – ISINGIROKikagati Primary School (KPS) is a Community/Government Aided (UPE) school founded in 1954 by the Church of Uganda. As of January 2018, the school had 948 Pupils (464 Boys & 484 Girls) and only 21 Teachers. KPS was chosen as a beneficiary of Doing Good 2018 because we wanted to reach a majority schoolchildren in the community. SBI connected electricity to the school, equipped the school with 14 Computers and Work Stations and sponsored an ICT teacher to train the pupils and teachers for one year. ICT, if carefully integrated in education, it has a potential to facilitate the acquisition of relevant life skills that buttress the development process in the prevailing economic and information order. NSAMBYA BABIES HOMENsambya Babies Home (SBH) is a charitable organization that coordinates child care activities. SBH belongs to Child Welfare and Adoption Society (CWAS). CWAS is a Christian non-government organization that advocates for children and promotes the care of vulnerable ones to grow into responsible adults by promoting the welfare of abandoned, orphaned and neglected children and by promoting fostering and adoption of the abandoned children. It was established in the year 1966 to care for abandoned children between 0-5 years old. The home survives on the income generating projects like hire of tents & chair, sale of children clothes made at the home, office space rental and the poultry project and they have 2 cows on zero grazing. In 2014, SBI (Uganda) donated to Nsambya babies Home by renovating the bathrooms SBI's Operation's Manager, Mr. Dotan and Mrs. Anat Dunsky with the children at Doing Good 2018SUPPORT DISABLED CHILDREN GGABASupport Disabled Children Ggaba (SDCG) project aims to help disabled children and their families by training the families on how to care for their children in order for them to live the best possible way. It is a project build on a locally based initiative. As of Feb. 2018, 20 children with various physical and mental disabilities, ranging from hearing impairment to cerebral palsy are assigned to the project. SDCG aims to give these children the opportunity to live a full life despite their disabilities. It can be as simple as being able to interact with other people. The project has gathered disabled children and young people to play, get tuition and do other activities. NAGURU RECEPTION HOMEHowever, due to inevitable social problem, the institution cares also for children under ages 2 years and above ages 7 years. As of January 2018 there were 93 Children; 43 girls (4 with special needs) & 50 boys (11 with special needs). As part of the Arison Group, our initiative on Good Deeds Day is to touch an unlimited number of peoples regardless of where they are. IN THE MEDIA |
